Svein has worked very hard whilst we have stayed in Nisyros and has made our bathing ladder to be used on the side of the boat.

Our trip to Nisyros was drawing to a close and we were waiting for favourable winds to make our way to Kalymnos to see Svein’s youngest brother and his family who were there on holiday.

We left early in the morning as it was a fairly long trek and managed to see a beautiful sunrise before we left. We motored all the way round the western tip of Kos and round to Kalymnos where we managed to moor on the town quay right in the centre of town.

The Norwegian contingent came to the boat and then we wandered up to their hotel where we spent the afternoon in the swimming pool. We had a meal in town but unfortunately the restaurant is not to be recommended as it was extremely expensive and the service was really appalling.

Anyway the next day the family arrived at the boat as we left the quay for the short hop over to Kos. We managed to motor sail part of the way and eventually moored on the quay between the castle and the marina. A little bumpy as it received the backlash from the ships and ferries that called into Kos. The afternoon was spent at the Luna Water Park and then we headed out for a Thai meal at our favourite restaurant in Kos.

The next morning they left early to go to the airport for the trip home and we were able to move down to Kardamena where we anchored outside the harbour. Just as we were ready to test that the anchor was set the gearbox wire broke so Svein spent the afternoon repairing it. At the same time the fridge compressor started to play up so he went into town to organise a repair. We dined on board for the first time in over 10 days.

Bright and early the next morning Svein fetched the repair man and after one hour the fridge had gas again and we had arranged to have the compressor changed after the departure of our guests. We did a little shopping in town and once again after a night at anchor in fairly heavy winds we were ready to move on to Kefalos bay to await the American contingent.

The bay is alive with water sports of all kinds but is a tranquil anchorage with not too much activity on land in the evenings.

We are currently waiting for the visitors to arrive and will remain here a couple of days before heading once again to Nisyros where we will stay until the end of their visit.
